現在のコーディング規約の８０文字制限はナンセンスだから、やめようぜ
というcheckpatch.pl の文字数チェックを廃止するパッチが投稿された。
周りの反応もおおむね好意的。

そういえば10年位前の話だが「1関数・1メソッドはディスプレイ1画面内に収まるサイズにする」と言うルールでコーディングしている先輩がいたけど、制限の回避のためにUXGAのモニタに乗り換えてた事を思い出した。
